This page highlights a collection of CAD design projects that demonstrate skills in 3D modeling, engineering analysis, and product development. These projects range from mechanical assemblies to product redesigns, reflecting both creativity and technical precision. Each design emphasizes practical application, whether it’s improving manufacturability, testing mechanical performance, or exploring innovative concepts, while showcasing a growing foundation in engineering design tools and methods.
Planetary Gearbox Design
I designed a functional planetary gearbox to demonstrate skills in CAD modeling, mechanical design, and engineering analysis. Using Fusion 360, I modeled a 5:1 reduction gearbox consisting of a 12-tooth sun gear, three 18-tooth planet gears, a 48-tooth ring gear, and a custom carrier with integrated pegs. The gears were generated using parametric design principles (module = 1 mm, pressure angle = 20°) and toleranced for proper gear meshing.
The prototype successfully demonstrated gear interaction, rotational motion transfer, and the expected 5:1 output ratio. The project highlighted design considerations such as backlash, root fillet radii, and dimensional accuracy, which I validated through iterative refinements. This work illustrates the complete engineering cycle from theoretical gear ratio calculations to CAD modeling, assembly simulation, and performance verification.
